I ordered a coffee but got a lemonade but its like 99 degrees out and the owner probably thought i had a learning disability and corrected my order to something appropriate for the heat.

Great food and friendly restaurant! I really enjoyed the chicken basket. Definitely worth making it a destination!

Love this diner! I'm traveling and decided to stop in Avoca for the night. I went to Grandma's for a carry out mushroom swiss burger and I am glad I did. The burger was made of fresh beef that was hand pressed. It was loaded full of mushrooms, swiss cheese and tasted delicious. The diner is owned and run by a nice friendly couple. The wife is the only cook and has been cooking here for over 20 years with a great local customer following. They have a white board full of specials or you can order off the main menu. It's quick, priced right and delicious. A real local gem. I highly recommend it!

Real simple and real good. Friendly staff and customers. Food comes out quick and done just right (not too burnt, not to raw on the burgers). Small, but honey and comfortable. I really enjoyed it after a long day on the road!!

It was good food, friendly staff, and mighty tasty. Never saw Grandma but she was probably cooking. Only negative was I wanted more variety of veggies in my house salad. Sweet Potato fries were great.

Not a bad little place. Biggest downfall is they charge for everything! Want tomatoes on your just average burger? That's $1.25! I don't know if it's the same charge for each item you want or if it's all lumped into the same charge. But it was pretty sad. I'm already paying $9.00+ for a burger and fries, and $1.75 for a can of soda, I think you can through in lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles at no charge.

Small town fried food. Heavy on oil and cheese dripping from your food. Owner (Leta) is nasty and doesn’t seem to have time to listen to concerns about meal. there are other places with better food and much more pleasant staff. Steer clear!

This place is a hidden gem! It's not fancy but very cozy and welcoming. The food was amazing! Service was excellent and very polite. If you love grandmas cooking then you need to eat here. It will change your life!

I'm here every week at least once. It is rather a fast food place, but always delicious and we'll prepared.

Rude staff, mediocre food quality, horrible service, and overall poor experience. When in Avoca again, I will most definitely not be choosing this place; it was a wrong decision to eat in such an unhealthy environment. I would have preferred Subway over this food. If you’re in Avoca, Iowa for a few days, then try to avoid this restaurant; it’s not worth your time nor money.

My husband and I were traveling through Iowa and found Grandma's Diner at lunch time. Delicious! Best diner food I have had in quite awhile. The owners were so friendly. If I ever pass this way again, I will be sure to visit.

Food was great! Service was good and friendly. I ordered steak. The steak was very soft and juicy. I was passing through and I wasn't sure about stopping by but I'm glad I did. If I'm close by I will definitely stop by again.

This cozy, unassuming, little roadside restaurant, was fabulous! The food was delicious, and the service was amazing. If you ever find yourself near Avoca, IA, give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.

Great family place, prices, variety. Loved the visit to this greasy spoon. Fried pickles were delicious! They stayed late to serve our family, much appreciated.
